American Eagle Investigations is staffed by Investigators and Private Detectives, each of whom has an average of 25 years of experience in private investigations.
The principals of American Eagle Investigations have over 50 years of law enforcement experience, most of it with the New York City Police Department. In addition to our full-time personnel, we also are part of a worldwide network of investigative professionals that allow us to leverage the talents of veterans of police departments and law enforcement organizations, such as the FBI. To bolster our information gathering capabilities while remaining sensitive to the specific needs of our clients, we also work with both male and female investigators, all of whom have extensive backgrounds in law enforcement. We are also qualified to perform lie detector testing in New York.
It is a fact of life that everything is not always as it appears on the surface. Whether it is business partners, job applicants, or even family members – everyone has something they’re trying to hide. The only question is how they do it, what kind of impact their secret will have on you, and what lengths they will go to in order to keep it hidden.
At American Eagle Investigations, we live by one simple premise – we find the truth. With an unwavering tenacity we leave no stone unturned, delivering our clients peace of mind and certainty.
Whether you own and operate a huge business or just want to make sure you’re not being lied to by a spouse, our international network of investigators and detectives has the resources to uncover what is hidden and the client commitment to ensure that your concerns are treated with the utmost discretion and sensitivity.
Get to the truth with our video and photo evidence!
As part of our investigative techniques, we use state-of-the-art surveillance to get you the evidence you need, regardless of the type case we are working on. We recommend that you do not perform surveillance on your own, as New York’s surveillance laws are somewhat complicated. It is strictly prohibited to trespass on private property to spy on a potentially cheating spouse, while it is simply best not to hack into a computer without specialized equipment so that potential evidence is not accidentally deleted.
Instead, contact us at American Eagle Investigations: Whether it is a surveillance video, a photo or any other piece of evidence, our experienced private investigators will provide it for you. For more information or a confidential consultation, call us at 212-344-8997 or fill out our contact form. We service all of NYC, including Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx.
When one thinks of a detective, what often comes to mind is someone who searches for murder suspects or investigates major corporate fraud. Oftentimes, this image is from an old movie rather real life. However, a qualified private investigator is someone with law enforcement experience who uses covert techniques and surveillance equipment to uncover the truth behind all manner of domestic and civil cases.

In the State of New York, to claim you’re a private investigator, you actually have to be licensed by the state and meet their minimum requirements for eligibility. If you’ve approached a company or “investigator” to handle your concerns and they are not licensed by the state, it’s wise to seek a new referral, because these minimum requirements are actually for your benefit. In the State of New York, a private investigator must:
Those last two bullet points are a bit ambiguous and could be misconstrued, but they simply mean you had to work directly beneath a licensed private investigator for 3 years (think of an apprentice) or been a law enforcement officer, such as our history of being NYPD, for 3 years. There is one exception and that’s employees of a police or fire department of 20 years, who were not actually law enforcement officers, but simply an employee. After 20 years of working side-by-side with police and fire personnel, the State of New York tends to believe you learned a thing or two and want to assist those individuals with a career in investigatory work. It behooves you to work with an investigator who has this experience, because it provides you with more confidence in their abilities, training, and education.
The final sequence of routine steps to finalize your license include passing electronic fingerprinting and background checks, receiving sworn statements from past employers vouching for your claimed experience, and proof of earnings during your qualifying experience. If a person cannot meet those (or other) benchmarks for approval, it can raise some suspicious flags as to why they aren’t? This is the main reason we (and the state) recommend only working with licensed investigators.
